The Early Childhood Community Development Centre, or ECCDC, is an independent charitable organization devoted to helping early learning and care professionals achieve their child care goals. We are also Niagara 's #1 source for child care information, resources, equipment, technology, training, and events. Anyone involved in the care and education of children may join the ECCDC and access its services. Whether you're a qualified ECE, the owner or manager of a licensed child care program, an informal home child care provider, a teacher or homeschooler, have a business aimed at families with children, or are simply a parent seeking safe, reliable, and educational care for your child, the ECCDC can help. Here's just some of what we offer:
  • access to a lending library of classroom equipment items, learning materials, resources,
    and curriculum kits for use with children of all ages;

  • affordable, high quality professional development and governance programming designed
    to help child care providers and programs optimize the services they provide;

  • opportunities to participate in research studies, product tests, and online forums specific
    to the child care industry;

  • volume discounts on the supplies you use everyday;

  • expertise in designing quality environments and enriching classroom programming;

  • advertising opportunities for child care providers and programs that help them reach out to
    the families who are most likely to use their services; and

  • the chance to connect with others in the community who share your passion for
    high quality child care.

HISTORY

The ECCDC was founded in 1993 by a group of local volunteers who shared a common vision of enhancing the quality, range, and affordability of child care services in Niagara. The ECCDC's entrepreneurial, customer service approach, strong project management capabilities, and willingness to work with a wide variety of private, non-profit, and public sector partners has allowed it to become Canada's leading child care resource, referral, and support organization. More than 80% of Niagara's licensed child care providers use the ECCDC's services at least once per month, making Niagara one of the most progressive communities in the country with respect to children's early learning and care.

FUNDRAISING

The work of the ECCDC is made possible by the generosity of its donors, and by membership sales, product sales, and fee-for-service transactions. While government agencies and private sector corporations may, from time to time, commission the ECCDC to deliver certain services to certain populations, or to manage specific child care related projects, the ECCDC is an independent, non-profit corporation and reserves the right to reject or withdraw from any arrangement that compromises its ability to deliver the products and services its members most want or need; or that undermines its capacity to issue objective recommendations to any member. The ECCDC is committed to serving licensed child care providers of all auspices, both licensed and informal home child care providers, homeschoolers, parents, entrepreneurs, and others involved in the care and education of children.

If you would like to make a donation to the ECCDC or sponsor a project related to children's early learning and development, please contact Tammy McCormick Ferguson, Executive Director, at 905.646.7311 x301 or click on the envelope to send an email .
