RECE OR Diploma in Child and Youth Care OR Diploma in Recreation adn Leisure Services OR OCT in good standing
1 - 3 years of experience in the child care field
Current First Aid and CPR-C
Police Check with Vulnerable Sector Check within 6 months **or current based on employment
Immunizations are up-to-date as per Medical Officer of Health
Asset – Safe Food Handler Certification
Asset – Quality Child Care Niagara Training
Asset – Child Care and Early Years Act Self-Test – Schedule 1
-Observe and participate in daily routines and activities regularly
- Collaborate with peers to ensure the inclusion of the Ministry of Education’s “Foundations for Learning” (Belonging, Well-Being, Engagement and Expression)
- Providing challenging environments that invite the children to explore, take risks and test their abilities in a safe manner
- Programming and offering indoor and outdoor environments that support children’s self-regulation, and extends play/learning opportunities
- Providing an environment that supports and acknowledges children as competent, capable curious and rich in potential
Understanding and adhering to the Policies and Procedures and seeking clarification, when necessary
- Attending Professional Development hosted by Child Care Supervisor or Way To Grow Daycare, as scheduled
- Report all accidents/injuries to the Child Care Supervisor, and complete an accident report, to be signed by the parent/guardian, Health and Safety Representative and Child Care Supervisor
- Completing accurate attendance records for each child, including sign-in and sign-out time, and daily health check
- Creating an open environment that allows families to be an equal partner in the care of the child/children
- Demonstrating caring and authentic relationships with children and families by welcoming and acknowledging them at drop-off and pick-up times
- Resolving difference of opinions in an open, honest, and respectful manner
- Using supportive and positive language, facial expressions and body language with the children at all times
- Responding promptly, appropriately, and sensitively to children’s verbal and non-verbal expression of needs, their interests and their attempt to communicate
Planning for individual children’s needs, including following a child’s Individualized Support Plan and maintain accurate records
Role modeling with the children to encourage the development of socially acceptable ways to handle conflict
- Accessing appropriate professional development such as workshops, conferences, and courses to enhance your own professional development
- Maintaining regular attendance and punctuality, and adhering to dress code
- Completing tasks as requested by those providing leadership and guidance
- Ensuring as you learn and try new tasks that you ask questions to ensure that you understand what is expected.
